Song: Little Gun (1981)

A SONG ABOUT THE MURDER OF JOHN LENNON

After the murder of John Lennon someone asked Nancy Reagan what she thought of gun control now, and Nancy said that she had a gun herself that Ronnie had given her for when he went away. But it was just a little gun.

Little Gun was on The Robert Priest E.P. 1981, produced by Keith Elshaw, featuring The Jitters, Neil Chapman and Syren.

LITTLE GUN

Words & Music by Robert Priest

First lady bizarro number one
Just after he murder of Brother John
She let it be known that she too had a gun
But nobody should worry
‘Cause it’s just a Little gun
Little gun little gun little gun
Hyaaah

Well I thought of her lying there
With her long lovely lonely old limbs
She’s thinking on the nation and she’s chanting out her salvation hymns
And deep in her sleep she says “o my sweet Ron,”
But it’s one of those nights when sweet Ron is gone
Still she reaches out her arms as if to hold someone
But when she bends down to kiss it

It’s just that little gun
little gun little gun little gun
Little gun little gun little gun little gun
Little gun hyah

Now ain’t that cute, cute, cute
I hope she don’t shoot, shoot shoot

Little gun’s they look a lot bigger
Little gun when your finger’s on the trigger
Little gun I said they look a lot bigger
Little gun, when your fingers on the trigger

It was in the darkest part of the night
When they came for the chosen ones
There was a man with a hood on his head
Which ones were the ones
They took them outside
They were trembling with fear
And they shot them in the night
Where their families could hear
You saw it next day on the TV
There were 27 bodies lying dead in the street
And the newsman stood in El Salvador’s sun
And he wondered out loud why and how was this done
Well me I got a feelin’

It was just that little gun
Little gun little gun little gun
Little gun little gun little gun little gun
Little gun
Hyaah

That ain’t cute, cute, cute
No don’t shoot, don’t shoot
